This guide walks you through the three most common tasks HR professionals perform on TalentUp: searching for a market salary, exporting a benchmark report, and uploading your team’s compensation data for internal analysis. If you are new to the platform, complete these three steps in order and you will have a full picture of both the market and your own team’s pay position within minutes.
To get started, go to TalentUp.io, sign up with your email, or log in if you already have an account. Once inside, choose the plan that fits your needs or start with a free search to explore the platform before committing.
The TalentUp Dashboard: your home screen after logging in, with Company Settings at the top and your team’s shared workspace below.
How to Perform a Salary Search
The Market Salary Search gives you the current market rate for any role in any location. Use it when setting a salary for a new hire, validating an existing pay range, or preparing a compensation offer.
The Market Salary Search: enter a job title and location to access a full salary benchmark report.
From the Dashboard, navigate to Market Salary Search.
Enter a job title (for example, “UX Designer”) and a city or country (for example, “Barcelona”). If you are working with a non-standard or hybrid role, use the Match description option to paste in the full job description instead. TalentUp will identify the most relevant benchmark based on the role’s responsibilities and level.
Apply optional filters to narrow results to your peer group: industry, company size, or funding stage. If you are on a Premium plan, you can also define a custom Peer Group by selecting at least 5 specific companies. This generates a benchmark based exclusively on data from those companies, useful for highly targeted competitive analysis.
Review the results:
Percentile distribution (P25, P50, P75, P90): shows how salaries are spread across the market. P50 is the median and the standard reference for “competitive” pay. P75 and above are used for hard-to-fill roles or top talent. Use these percentiles to position your offer deliberately, not arbitrarily.
Salary by seniority level: see how compensation evolves from Junior through Lead so you can set internally consistent pay ranges.
Bonuses and benefits (Advanced+ plans): understand what the market offers beyond base salary, including annual bonuses, stock options, and remote work perks.

Exporting a Salary Report
Once you have your benchmark results, you can export them to share with hiring managers, finance teams, or leadership.
Click the Export button at the top right of the results screen.
Choose your format: PDF for presentations and board meetings, or Excel for further analysis and data manipulation.
Click Download and save the file. You can now attach it to a hiring plan, include it in a compensation committee deck, or use it to document the rationale behind a salary decision.
Uploading Employee Data
To benchmark your existing team against the market, upload your organization’s compensation data into Internal Pay Analysis. TalentUp will automatically compare each employee’s salary to the live market median for their role and location.
Go to Internal Pay Analysis from the top navigation bar.
Download the Excel template provided by the platform.
Fill in the template with the following details for each employee:
Name
Job title
Location
Current salary
Seniority level

Upload the completed file back into the platform.

Identify at-risk employees flagged as “Risk loss” who may leave due to below-market pay
Detect pay equity concerns flagged as “Unequal”
Segment your team by department, seniority, or location for targeted analysis
Start building structured salary bands grounded in real market data
