Statutory Benefits

Mandatory benefits in Singapore
Monthly payroll cycle, paid within 7 days of the end of the salary period. Payment due on the last day of work in case of termination/resignation. Customary 13th month salary at year-end.
Employees covered by the Employment Act are entitled to at least 7 days of paid annual leave in their first year, increasing by one day per year of service, capping at 14 days.
16 weeks of paid maternity leave for employees with at least three months of service and the child being a Singaporean citizen. The first eight weeks are employer-paid, and the additional eight weeks are government-reimbursed.
Each parent with at least 3 months of service is eligible for 6 days of paid childcare leave per year until the child turns 7 years old. The first 3 days are employer-paid, and the remaining 3 days are government-paid.
Work permits are required in Singapore. The type of permit depends on the person’s skills. Employment pass is required for degree holders or specialists.
Singapore observes 11 public holidays annually. Holidays falling on a Sunday are moved to the next working day.
Central Provident Fund – CPF (Pension for employees aged 55 and below, reduces progressively to 12% as age increases) applies to Singapore Citizens or Permanent Resident employees earning more than $50 per month. Employment can be terminated by providing the legally required notice. Leavers should be paid all outstanding holiday entitlements, and tax clearance must be sought from IRAS before making the final payment.
