Mandatory benefits in Bangkok
The national minimum daily wage varies by region from 328 THB in Narathiwat, Pattani & Yala to 354 THB in Phuket & Chonburi. Minimum wage for foreign nationals varies by nationality.
Male employees are entitled to leave for military service, with basic pay for up to 60 days per year.
At least 6 days of paid annual leave per year after one year of employment. Pro-rata leave can be provided for employees with less than one year of service.
For short-term work up to 15 days, an Urgent Work Permit is required. For work beyond 30 days, a work permit is necessary. A Non-Immigrant B visa is required for obtaining a work permit.
Employees are entitled to 3 working days per year for personal matters.
No mandatory requirement for a probation period, but commonly included for up to 119 days.
Maximum working hours are 8 hours per day, 48 hours per week. Rest period of not less than one hour per day after five consecutive hours of work. Overtime is paid at varying rates.
Public holidays amount to 17 days per year. Holidays falling on weekends are moved to another day.
98 days of maternity leave. Paid at 100% salary for the first 45 days and 50% for the remaining days by Social Security.
Severance pay is mandatory after 120 days of service, ranging from 30 to 400 days of pay based on length of service.
Employee contributions include 3.00% for pension, 1.50% for health insurance, and 0.50% for unemployment, applied on income between 1650-17,500 THB monthly. Total employee cost is 5.00%.
