Statutory Benefits

Mandatory benefits in C-C-C-C-Latvia
National Social Insurance and Solidarity Tax (NSIC) for employment with a company registered in Latvia/EU/EEA. Split rate for income maximum 78,100 EUR annually. Includes rates for regular employment and employees eligible for retirement.
Payroll frequency is generally monthly, with a requirement for payment at least twice a month unless agreed otherwise.
Latvia offers various visa options for foreign nationals, including the EU Blue Card and Residence Permit with Work Authorization.
The monthly minimum wage is determined by the cabinet and is 740 EUR.
Standard workweek consists of 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week. Overtime is paid at 200% of the regular salary rate.
Income tax rates: 20% up to 20,004 EUR annually, 23% from 20,005 to 78,100 EUR annually, and 31% for 78,100 EUR and above annually.

The first day of sickness is unpaid. Employers pay 75% salary for days 2-3 and 80% for days 4-10. From day 11, sick pay is compensated by the state.
Paid maternity leave for 56 or 70 calendar days before and after childbirth, depending on medical conditions. Maximum benefit period is 140 days.
Employers can terminate contracts for business, personal, or misconduct reasons with notice and written explanation. Notice period is at least one month.
Severance pay depends on length of service: up to 4 months’ pay for over 20 years of service.
Probation period under indefinite contracts is up to three months, extendable to six months through collective agreements.
